What is the difference between dry and oily dandruff?

Dry dandruff falls from the scalp. It occurs mostly in winter and does not cause redness and itching of the scalp. During the summer and spring the scalp gets better and the dandruff problems at least partially disappear. The reasons for healthier scalp during the summer and spring are favorable weather conditions, different food and pleasant time between the holidays.

Oily dandruff is a much more severe form of dandruff. The flakes are larger and the grease keeps them falling from the scalp and hair. Grease and flakes gradually start to form small clots that clog the pores of the scalp and cause hair loss particular in men.
Dandruff is not a result of a poor hygiene, even though irregular hair washing and poor care for the scalp can lead to a thicker layer of dandruff. Dandruff formation can also be accelerated by inappropriate shampoo or by its improper use. Dandruff is not contagious and cannot be transferred with a comb, scissors or in hair salons.

We must emphasize that dandruff is a chronic and practically incurable disorder that can be suspended and mitigated but we cannot definitively eliminate it, because the reason for it is a fungus that creates excess skin-cell turnover and is present through the skin.
